Pedal to the Metal

Do you ever feel like your life in constantly in the fast lane? I do! I am constantly saying "when things slow down." I guess I need to get out of denial and accept that life isn't going to slow down and just try to enjoy each day. It is so hard to balance family, friends, work, extra activities, committees, workouts, etc. and yet keep my sanity and be 100% into whatever I am doing at that moment. This has been somewhat of a trying week. I use to never let myself cry because I felt it was weakness and I have come to realize what healing there is in crying, it is like freedom to be weak and that is ok. What a concept! And what an idiot I have been for so long! Sometimes I don't have it all together and a good cry reminds me that I am who I am and not in this life alone, that I am so blessed, that I have a wonderful nonperfect life! Who cares if I "drop my basket" sometimes? My daughter Sydney showed me a perfect example of why not to give up. Last night at gymnastics, the girls had to climb this rope that was about 15 feet in the air. She got about 1/2 way up the first time and then slid back down, well she cheered on the others and a few made it to the top where there is a bell that they ring and everyone claps. She got up to go the 2nd time, looked at me, smiled and climbed up without hesitation and rung the bell! When she came down, she looked at me again, nodded like "ok, I did it." I was so proud of her and got teary and thought if my 7 year old can look me in the eyes with that kind of determination, then I can look life straight on with that same determination. I love that girl! Her motto is pedal to the metal!

About Us

There is alot to us! Travis and I got married just this summer, June 19th! It was a beautiful, outdoor, non-traditional ceremony with our family and friends. It was a wonderful day. We have known each other since we were kids, went to high school together and crazy enough, our paths came full circle back around, connected instantly, fell in love almost immediately and decided we for sure wanted to spend the rest of our lives together so we planned a wedding in about 6 weeks and took the plunge! Thanks to our wonderful family and friends, we pulled it off!
We just bought a house and enjoy fixing it up! We love living in Quinter, KS, there is no better place in the world.

Travis is quiet, sweet, thoughtful and truly amazing! He loves the outdoors, hunting, basketball and hanging out with me and the kids as well as family and friends. He is such a smarty pants and works for a company out of Denver, CO as a Field Technician building/maintaining a certain piece of equipment in Ethanol plants. It's complicated but that is the simplest explanation I could come up with!

As for me, my favorit job is being a Mom! My actual paying job is for a financial planners network called The Garrett Planning Network. I have the best boss and co-workers in the world! My office is at home so I like to take business casual to a whole new level. Thank goodness we don't have webcams! I also coach track at Quinter High School which I love. I enjoy gardening, running, reading and time with family and friends. My husband is my very best friend but I am blessed with so many wonderful friends, it makes me cry thinking how blessed I am in that department.

Jonah is 10 years old and a 5th grader. He has transformed into such a neat little man! He loves sports, has a huge tender heart and loves to eat! Although you can't tell because he is skinny. Seems like yesterday I held him as a baby and now he growing too fast but he is still my sweet boy. I really appreciate his tenderness and soft side.

Sydney Beth is 7, in the 2nd grade and full of life. She is sunshine in our house and very fun! She loves everthing except her brother's teasing! She is getting into gymnastics this year and really enjoys it. She also enjoys working outside with me and doing crafts. I really appreciate her love for everyone. She is saving every penny she gets to go to Paris someday!

We also have some four-legged kids. Zoe is a year old St. Bernard and just sweet as can be! Dixie is a 10 month old Brittany. She is Travis' hunting dog and full of energy and just a really great dog! Snowflake is our cat that keeps Jonah company at night and spends her days inside and out.

That is us in a nutshell!

Runners to your mark...

I am not sure where to start so here goes.....my first blog! My amazing friend Jamie started one of these blogs for her family and it is so cute, I loved it and so that pursuaded me to start one.

I hope you enjoy this window into our lives. It is a window into my precious world that I love and cherish.
